Social Work on Silage-Making – 20th June 2025

On 20th June 2025, the staff of our Centre came together once again in the spirit of solidarity and service to carry out our regular social work. This month’s activity focused on silage-making, a critical task to ensure feed security for the farm animals during the lean season.

The entire workforce—comprising specialists, officers, and support staff—actively participated in the process. The activity involved cutting the pasture, including a mix of nutritious grasses and legumes, transporting the harvested biomass, and carefully ensiling it in designated silage pits for fermentation and long-term storage.

Silage-making is an essential practice in dairy farming. By preserving green fodder through anaerobic fermentation, silage retains much of its nutritional value, ensuring a high-quality feed source even during periods when fresh forage is scarce. The temperate pasture used—rich in protein from legumes and energy from grasses—will help support animal health, productivity, and welfare, especially in the winter months.

This ritual of conducting collective social work is also a meaningful gesture of appreciation and support for our elementary service personnel, who work tirelessly throughout the year to keep the farm animals healthy. Engaging in such collective activities reinforces our values of teamwork, mutual respect, and inclusivity, while fostering a workplace culture grounded in compassion and shared responsibility.
